Searching for timely payroll and HR info? Payworks' Home Screen has everything you need
Since the beginning of March, we’ve been working hard to provide the most up-to-date information we can to you, our clients, as the landscape rapidly changes for Canadian businesses. From national to regional legislation and the various government subsidies available, to the different ways our platform can help make this new normal more efficient for you as a payroll or HR professional, our home screen is host to everything you need during this time. Here’s a summary of what’s there and updated regularly to keep you in-the-know.
COVID-19 RELATED GOVERNMENT RELIEF AND LEGISLATION GUIDE FOR CANADIAN BUSINESS
We created a comprehensive guide that includes information on all federal legislation and relief for both businesses and employees, as well as relief and legislation by Canadian region. It’s updated as changes happen and is a valuable resource to review your options all in one place. From the wage subsidy programs and the emergency response benefit to employment insurance and extended tax filing deadlines, be sure to set aside some time to look it over because there’s a lot of information!
PAYROLL-IMPACTING LEGISLATION BY PROVINCE/TERRITORY
We’ve also created a straightforward chart that houses all payroll impacting legislation organized by province or territory. It outlines information each region’s health tax and workers compensation and also provides information on our response including steps you can take for items relevant to you and your organization. Check back often as it’s updated regularly.
CEWS: CANADA EMERGENCY WAGE SUBSIDY (75%)
Applications are now open to apply for this 75% wage subsidy. It’s managed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and we’ve received lots of questions about how to apply to the CRA most effectively. Stay tuned for a new report that will assist in calculations!
10% TEMPORARY WAGE SUBSIDY
We built a convenient calculator to use in reducing your remittance values when running your payroll. You can now also override the automatic amount calculated to take advantage of any remittance reductions that you qualify for retroactively. All the instructions and a how-to video are available on our Help Centre via our home screen.
Updated July 28, 2020: Note: While the Temporary 10% Wage Subsidy for Employers subsidy period is now over, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules allow reductions to future payroll remittances if an employer has not claimed the full amount. Please see the CRA's FAQs, Payworks’ COVID-19 Related Government Relief and Legislation Guide for Canadian Business or Payworks’ Legislation FAQs (accessible via the home screen) for more information, or contact your Client Service Representative.
CERB: CANADA EMERGENCY RESPONSE BENEFIT
This benefit is for eligible workers and provides a taxable benefit of $2,000 for a 4 week period for up to 16 weeks. Like all government relief, we’ve got the details outlined on our home screen, including eligibility parameters and a link to the federal government for full details.
PAYWORKS HOME SCREEN: EVERYTHING YOU NEED HELP CENTRE
Our online Help Centre is available quickly through our home screen and is a convenient and easy way to access information and resources you need now.
There are special sections dedicated to the government relief programs, Records of Employment, and a dedicated library of COVID-19 related articles and FAQs, information about how to best leverage the Payworks application during this time, helpful videos and much more.
