Shining lights, bustling streets, excited kids – the holiday season brings out the same feeling in most of us. Stress. When your employees’ holiday happiness is hanging by a piece of tinsel, take action to bring wellness to your workplace.

Provide some healthy holiday drinks and snacks

Most people eat a lot less healthy through the holidays. Encourage your employees to eat healthier by providing fruits and vegetables for snacking. Put out an iced tea dispenser or a fruit punch. Good food is good for the brain and fights the lethargy we experience when we eat processed foods, chocolate and sweets.

Turn deadlines into lifelines

Yes, business is driven by deadlines. But when your team is feeling stressed, review what’s coming up and prioritize the projects. If something can wait, let it wait. Stress and fatigue (hallmarks of the holidays) make us less productive, so do your best to avert it at work.

Get employees to do even more!

To help others, that is! Have your team put together and deliver food hampers, or hand out candy canes, or even stand outside with a “Happy Holidays!” sign to spread cheer to passers-by. Doing good deeds cuts stress, breaks routines, and it’s great for team building!

Have some fun!

Get everyone together to build snowmen, start a street hockey game, set up a holiday craft table, plan an office potluck, wear your ugly sweaters – laughter and activities can take the edge off and bring out the joy of the holidays.
