Payworks

Since 2015, Payworks has been a National Partner of Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada (RMHC); the everlasting organization that supports Ronald McDonald Houses and their programs in Canada. Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home away from home for out of town families with sick children being treated at a nearby hospital.

Throughout the year, Payworks supports numerous RMHCs across the country. Offices in each province are actively involved in McHappy Day through volunteer efforts and by purchasing Big Macs. Our staff have rolled up their sleeves to participate in the Home for Dinner program, the Family Meal Program, and have used their Payworks Pay It Forward Days to volunteer for the organization.

In 2015, Payworks joined the Adopt a Room program with Ronald McDonald House British Columbia by adopting the Salmon River room in River House (Room 303), and has continued to sponsor Room 303 ever since. Between January and December 2017, the Salmon River room hosted 46 kids and their families while receiving treatment, with the main reason for the family’s stay being Oncology. The average length of the stay was seven nights, with Room 303 being occupied for 314 nights of the year. The longest family’s stay was a total of 54 nights. The families that stayed in the Salmon River room traveled there from Trail, Rossland, Whitehorse, 100 Mile House, Victoria, Kitimat, Terrace, Nanaimo, and Kelowna for treatment at the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. A total of 241 dinners and breakfasts were served by community groups to those families.

Payworks is continuing to sponsor Room 303 in 2018. We’re proud to help give families more than just a place to stay.
