Brenda uses her third Pay it Forward Day at ALS Canada
Toronto Sales Consultant Brenda Newcombe has used her Payworks Pay It Forward Day three times to help ALS Canada, the latest being this spring.
In the past, she has assisted with data entry and counting the monetary donations from the ALS walks. This year, she helped out in a different facet. For her 2018 Pay It Forward Day, Brenda put together and addressed all personalized thank you cards and gifts for every team Captain from the ALS walks.
“They had hats and personal thank you cards written to each Captain,” explained Brenda. “I had to address all the mailing packages, insert the gift, weigh the package, and apply the postage.”
In June 2016 Brenda lost her friend Scott to ALS, but she first started volunteering for the Society when he was first diagnosed. She also participates annually in the ALS walk, the organization’s largest fundraising initiative.
ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis which is a neurological disease for which there is no cure; it is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The ALS Society provides support services for individuals living with ALS by providing them access to clinics, equipment, programs, in addition to assistance navigating various healthcare options. They also provide connections to the ALS community for ongoing assistance.
“I love that we have a Pay It Forward Day at Payworks,” said Brenda. “I will continue to support the ALS Society through this benefit as long as we are fortunate to have it.”
