When you’re shopping around to solve a problem – whether that’s laggy internet, a too-small apartment or a payroll process that’s taking up waaaay too much of your time and peace of mind! – cost matters (especially these days). And while a shiny offer may be enough to turn your head, you also need to look at what costs will look like down the road.
After all, choosing a workforce management solutions provider is about establishing a long-term, trusting relationship (at least it is around here; 98% of businesses that choose Payworks choose to stay because we scale up in lockstep with their growth). In fact, we’re so confident in the value of what we offer to businesses like yours – today, and as you grow – that we don’t lock our clients into long-term commitments; we know what we’ve got to offer is worth sticking around for!
Here are three ways in which choosing Payworks pays off – now and in the future:
- With Payworks, you know exactly what you’re paying and why.
- With Payworks, you’re only charged fees for active paid employees.
- With Payworks, you pay the same per run charge for each run, whether it’s a regular pay period or an extra run.
How does Payworks show you what you’re paying?
With Payworks, you know exactly what you’re paying and why.
When you’ve got nothing to hide, you can afford to be transparent. That’s why we’re pleased to offer a Funds Summary Report with every payroll run. It’s easy to find (you’ll find it under View Standard Payroll Reports in the Reports menu) and gives you a clear, plain-language breakdown of the fees you’re paying for that payroll run.
And if you’ve got any questions – about this, or anything else related to how you pay or manage your team! – Payworks provides each of our valued clients with access to our knowledgeable Canadian Client Service team who’s always happy to help.
“Very user-friendly program with great customer service at an excellent price point.”

Does Payworks charge fees for inactive employees?
With Payworks, you’re only charged fees for active paid employees.
If you’ve got part-time or seasonal employees and (very reasonably) want to keep them in your system even when they’re not working, you shouldn’t have to pay fees to do so – right?
We agree wholeheartedly! That’s why our clients’ per-run fees only reflect the number of employees who are being paid on that particular run (not the total number of employees on file).
And if you’re not sure if your current payroll provider follows the same pricing model… all we’ll say is that you might want to look into it.
“We initially switched from our previous payroll company to Payworks for the fees and customer service. Everything is set up to meet our specific business needs, and we know our customer service rep is only an email or phone call away – we don’t have to go through a million phone queues to speak with someone!”

What does an extra pay run cost with Payworks?
With Payworks, you pay the same per run charge for each run, whether it’s a regular pay period or an extra run.
We know that sometimes you need to process an extra pay run – whether you’re making year-to-date (YTD) adjustments, retroactive payments or issuing a bonus (yay!). Payworks has got you covered and charges the same fee for these extra runs as any other when they pop up.
“We just completed our first Payworks payroll yesterday and I am very happy with the service we received setting us up in the system, the support we got to get us through the first one, and the ease with which this system works. And the cost, compared to what we were doing before, amounts to being less money for more services. So happy we’ve switched to Payworks!”
